Chapter II — Rain & Damp Soil

← Back to Journal
Wet soil and green plants after rain
The moment when the heavy thunderstorm clears, and the world quietly breathes back to life. The wet asphalt and the dark garden soil, having just absorbed the rain, release a fresh yet raw breath of the earth. Glistening droplets slip from the tips of leaves, and in the air washed clean by the rain, a faint warmth filters in alongside the return of pale light. The scent of mud and green notes vividly conjures memories of distant childhood days playing innocently in puddles, and summer afternoons when we felt the warmth of the soil under our bare feet. This brief instance, like nature opening its chest to draw a deep breath, gently moistens our dry modern sensibilities. It reminds us of our origins and returns. Wrapped in the soft light filling the garden, we surrender to the quiet passage of time, imprinting the raw beauty of the rain-washed world onto our souls.
